I had been struggling to start this blog for a very, very long time. I knew that once we were on the road, there would be plenty of How To’s and interesting anecdotes to share. But, right now it’s just me and JC trying to figure out how to unhitch ourselves from our lifestyle and get on the Good Foot. Every time I sat down to write, all of my inner voices started spinning around, a tornado of conflicting objectives. I’ll get you Dorothy and your little dog too!
I know that I want this blog to provide practical resources and information for regular folks who are interested in sustainability, organic food, and (possibly) changing their lives. I do not want it to be snarky, sarcastic nor ironic (modern communication maladies from which I am far from immune.) And I definitely do not want to sink into sappy sentimentality nor pour a litany of random thoughts on you.
So, when JC posted this image, I realized it could be my guiding light. Clean and to the point. Neither sappy nor sarcastic. Marching orders for productivity!
Certainly, there are plenty of things in this mixed up world to bash – and there are loads of smart, eloquent people doing a bang up job of it. I, however, am dismantling my lifestyle precisely because I want to think about the world in a different way. I want to talk about people and events that inspire me, work that’s uplifting and knowledge that’s productive; stuff that I love that actually helps people live better.
Will it really help you to read three pages about the misguided, if not criminal policies of the FDA? Probably not. My guess is that you know the same facts I do and feel the same way about them. But, it might help you to hear about how to kill the common cold with a simple baking soda and water solution so that you never have to worry again about what the FDA has allowed to be included in over-the-counter cold remedies, right?
All of that to say, I now have my Blog Mission and I could use a LOT of help! So, please, comment freely. And I’m not just talking to the earnest, unabashedly positive folks out there. I also want to hear from the jaded, the cynical, and the snarky (my brethren!)
